Yes you heard that correct! Cigars have literally been to outer space.

In 1996, during a NASA space shuttle mission, astronaut Story Musgrave, a known cigar enthusiast, took a dummy cigar (non-flammable, of course) with him aboard STS-80 for fun and photos. While lighting up in zero gravity obviously isn’t allowed, Musgrave posed with the cigar floating in the cabin adding a bit of personality to space history.

It wasn’t lit, but it made headlines and sparked plenty of cigar-lover pride. That little gesture was a nod to the culture, tradition, and relaxation cigars represent even in the most high-tech, high-stress environments imaginable.
