Back then, nearly every small town had its own local cigar factory, and many entrepreneurs created custom labels to stand out in a crowded market. Some featured patriotic themes, while others used celebrities, animals, or wild-west imagery to grab attention.

Because trademark laws were still evolving, many brand names overlapped or mimicked more popular ones, leading to some hilarious knockoffs like "Cohobo" and "Romo y Juliette."
